Become a Community Advocate!

Our Community Advocates are dedicated individuals working to raise awareness about the impact of trauma and to promote resilience across Chester County. Formerly known as Resilience Champions, these advocates continue to inspire, educate, and empower their communities every day.

What is a Community Advocate?

A Community Advocate is someone who serves as a champion for trauma awareness, resilience, and the mission of the Chester County ACEs Coalition. Open to individuals, families, and organizational representatives, Community Advocates help build stronger, more resilient communities through education, advocacy, and collaboration.

Why Community Advocates Matter

Trauma can affect anyone, but resilience can help individuals and communities recover, grow, and succeed. Our Community Advocates are at the heart of this mission, spreading awareness, creating connections, and modeling resilience in action.

By championing mental health, wellness, and supportive community practices, they help build a stronger, more compassionate Chester County.

Volunteer Agreement, Consent & Shared Commitments

Because our work centers on trauma, healing, and community well-being, we begin by asking all interested individuals to review our Volunteer Agreement and Shared Commitments. This ensures a shared foundation of safety, trust, and integrity in all that we do.

If these values and expectations resonate with you, we welcome you to continue to the Volunteer Application.

As a trauma-informed initiative, our work is rooted in safety, trust, and respect for all individuals and communities. We recognize that conversations around adversity, healing, and resilience can be deeply personal. For this reason, we ask all volunteers to thoughtfully review and agree to the following shared commitments:

  • Commitment to Safety & Well-Being
I will prioritize the emotional and physical safety of all participants, fellow volunteers, and community members. I will engage in ways that promote dignity, choice, and respect, and avoid actions that could cause harm or re-traumatization.

  • Trauma-Informed & Healing-Centered Approach
I will support a strengths-based, healing-centered approach, honoring lived experiences without judgment and recognizing the impact of trauma on individuals and communities.

  • Integrity & Representation
I will represent the organization with honesty and integrity, staying within my role and level of training. I will not present myself as a trainer or expert unless I have been formally authorized to do so.

  • Confidentiality & Trust
I will respect the privacy of others and not share personal stories or identifying information shared in community spaces, except where required by law or safety guidelines.

  • Following Guidelines & Best Practices
I agree to follow all organizational policies and applicable county guidelines, including those related to safe engagement, mandated reporting (if applicable), and ethical conduct.

  • Ongoing Learning & Accountability
I understand that this work requires continuous learning and reflection. I am open to feedback and committed to growing in alignment with trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.

  • Volunteer Understanding
I understand that this is a volunteer role and not employment, and that participation is based on organizational needs and alignment.

By submitting the Volunteer Application below, I acknowledge these commitments and agree to uphold the values of safety, respect, and integrity in all aspects of my involvement.
